Experience
Hello! I am an experienced, enthusiastic elementary school teacher who is eager to begin working with your student to improve his or her academic performance and study skills. I believe strongly in having high expectations, both for my students and for myself; simply showing up and memorizing facts does a great disservice to the learning process. Students deserve an educator who has confidence in them, and can assist them in both building confidence and increasing their skill set. I hold a master's degree in Educational Technology Leadership from George Washington University and have experience in creating lessons in the Common Core method, as well as creating long-range plans, which has been invaluable as I assist students both in mathematics and with general goal setting and study skills. I have experience teaching all elementary school subjects and especially enjoy tutoring mathematics and reading. I am comfortable assisting students with all areas of language at the elementary school level, including phonics, grammar and mechanics, general writing skills, and reading comprehension. As I mentioned, helping students develop strong study skills and strategies is truly one of my strengths. Memorizing facts is a short-term fix, but learning how to plan, recognize patterns, and organize are skills that serve us all well in school and throughout life. In my spare time, I enjoy watching football, working out, and spending time with my wife and family. I look forward to working with your student!
